Institute board room is furnished with modern technology for making it as a user friendly environment at ground floor of the bulding.
UNKGMI faculty members are having comfortable rest room with all required facilities.
UNKGMI Library is having collections of maritime books presently & will be expandingwith different category books in the future for our valued seafarers reference.
The institute utilises a pool facility for training students on the STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST) where a number of ‘in water’ skills are taught before practical training is undertaken using a life raft and survival equipment Presently institute is using a swimming pool which is situated at nearby location under MOU until institute owned facilities are completed. However required training is carried out under the required facilities provided by the institute.
The fire fighting simulator and area covers an area of approximately 450 square feets and contains three large containers which is dedicated to live fire training. The fire ground is equipped with a wide range of fire fighting equipment commonly found onboard ship, all of which is available to the students for practical exercises with different types of nozzles. A number of fires can be simulated externally ranging from wood to liquid fires, and electrical equipment to chip pan fires in a number of different scenarios. Often utilised for extinguisher training, this gives students a feel for real fires and the confidence to know how to react in a real emergency.
It has its own dedicated fire main with a number of hydrants run from a local system and pump where water well which is utilized for all fire fighting operations. In addition to this equipment, the fire ground has its own dedicated changing facilities and showers for students.
There are dedicated classrooms for first aid and medical courses. Not limited to particular types or brands, a wide variety of equipment is available to enable students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the actual equipment found onboard ship. The Proficiency in medical first aid course give students the opportunity to carry out practical techniques, as well as gaining the theory to support these practical skills.
Cafeteria is located at the first floor of the building and is open to all students & staffs. It serves a range of meals for breakfast, lunch in six days a week. The offers include common breakfast items, Lunch packets, coffees, sandwiches, snacks and cakes. Smoking is not allowed at the collage premises which strict compliance is required.
UNKGMI has limited parking capacity at institute permises, with significant demand for the available space. Careful management and appropriate guidance is therefore needed to optimise the use of this resource. These are currently available on a first come, first-served basis, with all parking spaces are available by 0800hrs to 1700hrs.
